Xircom requires driver writers to sign a non- >disclosuer agreement. Nobody feeled compelled to do this by now. Nobody outside of BSDi, that is. The NDA I signed in order to do the Xircom PE III driver prevents me from telling you anything about how the card works, and my professional obligations to BSDi keep me from telling you my true opinion of the innards I've seen. But I feel quite safe legally and professionally in saying that the D-Link, for which Linux and FreeBSD drivers are available, will work just as well if you have a laptop without PCMCIA. If your laptop supports PCMCIA you are well advised to use a PCCARD ethernet board, for reasons of speed and geometry if nothing else. -- Paul Vixie La Honda, CA "Illegitimibus non carborundum." <paul@vix.com> pacbell!vixie!paul
