I'm using the Cyrix 5x86-100 overclocked to 120 on a small 16mg system I mainly use for tinkering with FreeBSD without any problems. It's certainly much faster than my old 486 DX/2 66, and there were no problems installing FreeBSD on it (apart from installing X, but that's got to do with the fact that my PCI video card wasn't supported at the time). One thing though, when recompiling the kernel, you have the option of selecting the CPU (ie, 386, 486 or 586). I presume that as the Cyrix chips aren't quite pentiums, the correct setting is 486.
