It takes longer, but you can read it on any machine. I adopted dump/restore at one time, until I needed to restore something. tar works on every architecture that I use. BTW, it was probably 386BSD that screwed me up, but since then I decided that the more architectures that can read a given tape format, the better the tape format. -- Brian <brian@awfulhak.demon.co.uk> Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour....
