It says: MASTERSITES=ftp:/ftp.com.std/src/editors DISTNAME=joe2.8 EXTRACT_SUFX=.tar.Z I got on the Net via Dialup IP (SLIP,PPP Dynamic,Static IP; it doesn't matter). I ftp-ed the file to my PC. ftp ftp>open ftp.com.std ... ftp>cd src/editors ftp>ls ftp>get joe2.8.tar.Z ... ftp>bye Put joe2.8.tar.Z in /usr/ports/distfiles directory Go to /usr/ports/editors/joe make build make install READY ! You used the wrong version of the distribution. In /usr/ports/editors/joe/patches there is a patch, that will work probably only with the right version !! By the way: the 'MAGIC' of the ports is extensively described in the FreeBSD Handbook. Look at http://www.freebsd.org/ If you have installed it. look at the directory /usr/share/doc. There is a directory FAQ and handbook Try file://localhost/usr/share/doc/handbook/handbook.html in a WWW-browser Greetings Peter Joosten In article <3198FF9F.1926@mainelink.net>, Gary Chrysler <tcg@mainelink.net> wrote: >James Raynard wrote: >> >> In article <31973E5B.43FF@mainelink.net>, >> Gary Chrysler <tcg@mainelink.net> wrote: >> >> >My question is _WHERE_ can I find Joe?? <snip> >> >> No, you just need some kind person to introduce to the magic of the >> FreeBSD ports 8-) >> <snip> >> >> -- >> James Raynard, Edinburgh, Scotland >> jraynard@dial.pipex.com >> james@jraynard.demon.co.uk > >And I thank you ``Some kind person``.. :) > >I finally got v3.1.12 from ftp.std.com, Except I can't get it to compile! >Thats another post though! > >I will have to work on your method..
