So far, it looks as though a child (doing a read) knows when the parent (doing a write) closes the FIFO, but this isn't happening with two separate programs. The same code works OK on a Sun, but the programs are a little long to post at the moment. I will trim the programs down and post them if necessary, but I'm hoping that someone else has already fixed the problem. :-) -- Jim H. * * James L.
