You can give a try at the smallx11.tz at nova.cc.purdue.edu in
/pub/386bsd/submissions 

Just type install, then it will do everything for you.
You may need kernel and server(for the X386mono if your VGA card is not
supported fully)
	YOu can get XFree86 from agate.
