There was a problem with FreeBSD; the SCSI driver would only work with at least revision 'A' of the WD33C93 chip. Plus it didn't use DMA. >The same problem appears to affect both NetBSD and FreeBSD. >Does anyone know of any progress on this one ?. NetBSD/mvme68k now has a proper SCSI driver which supports DMA. I ported the original driver (based on the NetBSD/amiga driver) a few months ago to NetBSD-1.1, and it is now in the NetBSD-current tree. The driver has been tested by a few people besides myself, and I've not yet had any negative feedback. The only drawback, if you can call it one, is that you need to have NetBSD/mvme68k running in the first place to 'newfs' a SCSI partition... I had to do this by installing NetBSD/i386 on a PC and using that as an NFS server to the '147. I suppose the other problem is that Chuck Cranor (mvme68k maintainer) hasn't yet packaged up a snapshot with the SCSI driver. (At least not that I'm aware of.) If you want to discuss any way around these problems, email me. Cheers, Steve -- Steve Woodford NetBSD-1.1/mvme68k steve@mctavish.demon.co.uk Motorola MVME147S Proud to be a Microsoft/PC free zone...
