During installation of my new machine I had the same problems, but the solution was to disable the sios (RS232 ports) at startup. It seems that the probe of ??sio3?? confuses the ATI Mach64 card. (The sio driver in 2.1.0 seems to probe all sios, even when you only specify the first two). As a more permanent solution I've deleted two addresses from the probe list in sio.c (for sio2 and sio3). After that you can simply use the first two sios AND you ATI card. If you have a fairly new ATI Mach64 card (as I do, 264CT Rev 9) you will also have trouble getting X11 to work; but the solution is quite simple: Get the latest X server (I believe that that would be: 3.1.2E, I don't remember where I've got it (sorry)). I hope this helped. Rene de Vries #include "stddisclamer" -- --- _ _ _ __ _ |- |_| |- |- / |- Rene de Vries revr@cadre.nl | |\ |_ |_ /_ |_ Cadre Technologies BV, European Operations, PD, Delft, NL
