Here's a bit more $0.02 worth to cloud the issue. I've had a handfull of APC's
(SmartUPS 600, 1200, 2000) for over 3 years now and they're still running
fine.....

On the other hand, I understand that these (and the TrippLite's) have clamp on
protection versus the UPS's from Best, which have the AC running through the
power converter at all times for an absolutle clean signal.
