I just installed Kermit from the ports collection, but when I try to use it I get "/dev/cuaa1: Permission denied" unless I'm logged in as root. The permissions are: crw-rw---- 1 uucp dialer /dev/cuaa1 -r-xr-sr-x 1 bin dialer /usr/local/bin/kermit Now, it's a single user system, so I can work around it by changing cuaa1 to mode 666, but is that the "right" way? And why doesn't the setgid dialer on kermit allow use of the serial port? Thanks, Richard Lamb
