I have a few machines running BSDi 2.1 that I just put SMC Etherpower 10/100 cards
in, patched with U210-003, which was did some stuff for the configuration for those
cards.

I reran config_netstart, and setup the servers for that card using 'de0' and then
rebooted the machines.
All of the cards were set to 100Mbit, and all run thru a 100Mbit Hub.

I am randomly losing packets when ping'ing from 100Mbit to 100Mbit and from 100Mbit
to 10Mbit and 10Mbit to 100Mbit, but not from 10Mbit to 10Mbit.

I switched one of the 100Mbit machines back down to 10Mbit and it doesn't loose
packets to other 10Mbit machines, but do to other 100Mbit machiens.

Here is a sample of 'netstat -i'

Name Mtu Network Address Ipkts Ierrs Opkts Oerrs Coll
de0 1500 <link1> 00:00:c0:ce:55:dc 6808724 97740 5640580 6 949
de0 1500 xx.xx.xx news 6808724 97740 5640580 6 949
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fillin the xx.xx.xx with the ip of that machine (done on purpose)

I am not sure what Ierrs and Oerrs mean, but would assume that its Input errors and
Output errors respectivly, and I would also assume that it is not a good thing to
have those types of numbers there.

We had the guys from the company who make the HUB's check it out, and they do not
show any packet loss on the hubs them selves between the 10Mbit and the 100Mbit
(hubs). I did look at the stats on the Hub and it is *really* not showing any packet
loss or collisions.

Gosh the more I write the more this sounds like it should go in another newgroup.
But the reason for me asking in here is cause I was wondering if anyone has problems
with the SMC EtherPower 10/100 cards with BSDi 2.1. And if so, what does one need to
do to get the machines to stop losing packets between one another?

Thank you for your time in reading this.
Matt
