Paoletti) Newsgroups: comp.unix.bsd,comp.os.linux Subject: 386BSD <-> Linux binary compatability? (ie: X8514) Message-ID: <1992Oct23.215731.13825@msuinfo.cl.msu.edu> Date: 23 Oct 92 21:57:31 GMT Sender: news@msuinfo.cl.msu.edu Organization: Dept. of Computer Science, Michigan State University Lines: 14 Originator: paoletti@pacific.cps.msu.edu I retrieved the Xlinux.8514 driver hoping to use it under 386BSD, but the file command does not recognize the server program as a valid executable. Are 386BSD & Linux binaries compatible? Alternately, has anyone worked on getting Kevin Martin's Linux 8514 driver compiled under 386BSD? I'm trying to avoid instlling the entire X distribution just to try thus out. If anyone's interested, the driver lives at: ftp.cs.unc.edu: /pub/martin Thanks! Dave Paoletti :)
