Hello,

the problem isn't new but I can't find any solution. I've searched
http://www.freebsd.org/search for HITACHI CD-ROM problems and found
many people reporting this. Who could help us with it ???

The problem is that the floppy disk (2.1-RELEASE) found the device
properly (with 'medium uknown' comment) but sysinstall tells 'No CD-ROM
device found' when I try to choose proper installation medium. I've got
original Walnut Creek CD-ROM. 2.2-950501-SNAP boot.flp found CD-ROM, let
me describe medium (so it can see CD-ROM) but can't mount it. ;-(

What is interesting I did not have any problems with my CD-ROM prevoiusly.
I instakked BSDI's BSD/OS 2.1 with it so it is a matter of FreeBSD's
ATAPI driver and HITACHI drives. What's so special ??? Can anyone help
to solve this problem ??? Maybe the author of this driver can do something
about it.

Please let him know about this.

Regards
J.
