Have I left out some >important configuration steps? What do I need to do to get the computer to >deal with my fddi card for networking? Seems so, but I'm a little confused about your subject. Tcpdump, is a nice tool for logging/monitoring you network traffic, not for testing a correct configuration. I prefer ping (ICMP), telnet TCP and TFTP(UDP) for such a test. okay: you need to setup up an ip address for your fddi interface, man ifconfig. e.g. ifconfig fpa0 192.168.1.1 netmask 0xffffff00 if all is working fine, you can enable the automatic network configuration at /etc/sysconfig. There is already a line, starting with ifconfig. I explained this, cause of your phrase: > Any advice/help/suggestions WARMLY received! although I'm shure you already did such a setup - cause you already dealed with tcpdump. Feel free, to leave my an email if you encounter further problems.
