Either install a name server somewhere in your domain and setup the FreeBSD
machine to use it (or itself if you're running named on it) or populate
/etc/hosts on the machine and tell the resolver not to use named.

/etc/host.conf:
------------------------------------------------------------
hosts
------------------------------------------------------------

If there is bind somewhere in host.conf, wipe it out.

If you want to provide name services for your machines but are not
connected to the Internet, it will be a little more difficult.
