Hello again! I'm the same guy that had the (dumb) problem with Tar a
couple days ago, or more specifically, I was using it incorrectly.
Thanks to all who responded!

This time, I'm having a problem setting my XFree86 color depth to 16bpp.
In the man page, it says that it's a command-line option as follows:

XFree86 -bpp 16

Well, I use "startx" to fire up my X-windows, and that command line
option doesn't seem to work there. I also tried inserting that line in
my .xinitrc file, which doesn't seem to work, either. I checked through
the XF86Config file, and everything seems to be set up properly to
*support* the higher video modes (I'm using a Mag Innovision 17" monitor
and a Diamond Stealth 64 Video VRAM with 4 megs on it, everything appears
to be configured properly, according to the hardware manuals.)

So, my question would be this: In which file would I insert the -bpp
command-line option to have X-Windows default to (or even RUN) 16bpp?

Once again, any help you could offer would be appreciated. Please
respond in E-Mail to:

root@jesus.
serv.net

Thanks in advance!
