I have also seen this on my Intel Etherexpress card. I believe it occurs
because of a device conflict somewhere. Perhaps things will work better if
you switch it to interrupt 5 using the Intel software. 

I would also note that the Intel Etherexpress is not well supported under
FreeBSD. You cannot use bpfilter on an ix0 interface, nor is multicast
supported. I am told the driver is being written to enable both tcpdump
and multicast, but there is no release schedule yet.
