(pstat : -s). How many users are you configured for? Lastly, have you installed : all the 2.01 patches? Under BSD/OS 2.0.1 and INN1.4unoff2 we had a constant problem with "stuck" in.nnrpds (i.e., the process hung around long after the user had disconnected) chewing up available memory until INN couldn't even read the "innshellvars." Most of our use is via dialup, and BSDI seems to think the problem has to do with kernel values that are non-tuneable and optimized for ethernet connections--i.e., an environment where hosts disappear and subseqently reappear. I "solved" it by killing all in.nnrpds whenver available memory (as reported by vmstat(8)) went below a threshold. Pretty ugly and not especially good for customer relations :). We've moved to BSD/OS 2.1 and INNunoff4+sharedactive and I've refined the hack a bit (it now kills only the in.nnrpds that are associated with non-responsive IPs--as reported by ping(1)), but I think it may be a fact of life in a dialup environment. -Erik PS to r$ we do find it useful, the postcard is in the mail :). -- Erik R.
