I get errors like "illegal request" on the mode sense. I have it successfully running with the `od' driver. (You can find it in the /xperimnt section of 2.1, in any 2.2-current system, and now even in 2.1-stable [since today].) It's a: (ncr0:3:0): "SONY SMO-C501-09 KG 2.13" type 0 removable SCSI 1 od0(ncr0:3:0): Optical 281MB (576999 512 byte sectors) The drive is actually an ESDI drive with an ESDI-to-SCSI bridge dedicated for MO drives. The biggest problem is that it always insists on being ``type 0'' (direct access), as opposed to ``type 4'' (optical). 2.2-current contains a kludge to override the driver assignment that is normally based on the device type. -- cheers, J"org joerg_wunsch@uriah.heep.sax.de -- http://www.sax.de/~joerg/ -- NIC: JW11-RIPE Never trust an operating system you don't have sources for. ;-)
