Keywords: Configuring I/O ttys Sender: news@u.washington.edu (USENET News System) Organization: University of Washington Date: Mon, 26 Oct 1992 18:03:26 GMT Lines: 15 I'm trying to set up my HP JLII as my serial printer. It ONLY provides communication in N,8,1 mode (thats No parity, 8 bit data, and 1 Stop). It does communication at various speeds and does support Xon/Xoff handshaking. I poured over old usenet postings in this group only the find an article with similar question but no responses. The posted implied that E,7,1 communication is hard coded into getty. Further, that a recompile was required? Is this true? I E-mail'd him and ask if he made any progress and he said no! Ok, gang, what the real story for doing N,8,1 I/o and how does one configure the system to do this?
