The aim is to boot up the diskless system with an application from a bootp/tftp-server. Because of this I am trying to find (or develop code for) a PROM for booting the system remotely with bootp/tftp. The Ethernet hardware on the PC/104 board is a smc9000 family (SMC91C92) controller cicuit. While pursuing this line I have found the FreeBSD netboot facility and Terry Lamberts advice (http://lake.canberra.edu.au/pub/samba/digest/1995/95apr/0147.html). Since the FreeBSD distribution of netboot didn't hold code for the SMC91C92 device, some searching got me a FreeBSD device driver (half way?) at the FTP site of SMC (ftp://ftp.smc.com/pub/chips/smc9000/smc9bsd.tar). Before I sit down and try to incorporate selected parts of this device driver in netboot, I would like to ask the following questions: -Have anyone tried to implement support for the SMC91C92 device in netboot? -Have anyone seen a similar thing somewhere else? -Have anyone experience from fitting netboot for boot of DOS (or RTKernel) applikations? Thanks in advance Olof Franksson SIGMA Design & Development Voice: +46-8-404 1101 Svetsarvagen 8 Fax: +46-8-764 7264 S-171 41 Solna URL: http://www.dd.sigma.se/~olof/ Sweden E-mail: Olof.Franksson@dd.sigma.se
