Anyone running ircd?
This is what I have done.....

I made a user named irc

This user is in the wheel group

I put this in the inetd.conf
irc stream tcp nowait irc /usr/local/bin/ircd ircd -o

I am almost positive that I made sure that /etc/services has
irc 6667/tcp #Internet Relay Chat Protocol
irc 6667/udp #Internet Relay Chat Protocol

I did not have a ircd.conf file where someone told me it should bo so I made
one in /usr/local/lib/ircd with only two lines in it.

I don't know if I need more infor here or not.

The first time I went to the server with an irc client it told me that I
should be running irc as a user not root because I had root in the
inetd.conf line. So I changed that to what it looks like above. I added the
irc user. Now when I go to it, the client software just beeps. Nothing pops
up on the terminal. I can hear the drive access so I know that it is taking
the hit. I can't find a log anywhere. Help!

Any help appreciated. --ja
