There was an excellent post about this a while ago... Is it part of the
FAQ?

The basic upshot is that caching controllers are a lousy idea in
general. You would do far better to just put all of the memory on the
motherboard and let the CPU have it. The OS can generally do a much
better job deciding how to manage the cache than the card can by
itself, simply because the OS has access to far more information about
the state of the machine.
