There are of course customers who ask you stuff like "and how do I install LINUX". If we take the freedom to not answer those kinds of questions, then you really should be not surprised. > Despite the fact that they are charging money, they want a treatment > free-software developers are getting. There are certain problems which cannot be fixed by a "quick hack". Because we are commercial we do care about relieablity. A non-trivial change requires a significant amount of testing, and hence cannot be done every other day. Hence some fixes will only appear in the next major new version. Guess it's not really different for ANY other software product. Also I should comment about your statement of patience. Some users (and I have no idea whether this is true for the original poster) provide us with bug-reports like: "Your software does not work. Why ?". Well, without a clue about what OS and what hardware this user is running we don't even have a chance. Another problem we are facing especially is the fact that graphics card venders change their hardware like other people their underware. But they still keep the same name for the product. I know of many different revisions of the Matrox Millenium, and depending upon which you have (and which motherboard for that matter as well) different problems can appear. - Thomas
