Nobody ever came around to implement it, and text consoles seem to be
used less and lesser. Hellmuth Michaelis once thought about building
this as an option into the pcvt driver, but it never actually
happened.

You should be able to use the monochrome card for the text screens,
and the VGA for an Xserver however. I've once tried this with the
pcvt driver (i think syscons had more troubles in handling it), and
the only reason it failed was that my old ELSA Winner S3-based card
was not useable for XFree86 with the BIOS disabled.

Of course, only either the mono or the color screen could be active at
a time, since there's only one keyboard.
