Subject: Xfree works, xterm doesn't
Lines: 24

At last, I have been able to recompile the kernel and to install XFree.
(Installing Terry's beta patchkit really helps, you don't get those
nasty freezes during make any more)

All X-clients run happily, but xterm doesn't.

I start X via xinit and a suitable .xinitrc file, and although xterm
is started there, xterm is a no-show.

As xterm (no flames please) is about the most important X-application,
I am somewhat nonplussed.

I even copied the xterm sources off the "Walnut Creek CD-ROM" X11R5
CD-ROM (which, at $39.95, is a *steal*), compiled them, and installed
my own (slightly larger) xterm, but to no avail...

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
