It did just what you told it to. Ntpdate is used to set the clock once
(read the 'ntpdate' man page for more info).

If you want to syncronize your system clock to an NTP server, check
out the 'xntpd' (Network Time Protocol daemon) manpage and the
'xntpdflag' option in /etc/sysconfig.
