A fully integrated version of that patch (Manuel Boyer's driver) is
available within OpenBSD, and is supported by the latest binary snapshot.

Those that want decent support for the i386 really ought to find something
other then NetBSD.  NetBSD has a truly horrible history in that regard.

Linux and FreeBSD have the best support, obviously, but OpenBSD is now
coming pretty close, while still offering the same machine-dependant approach
as NetBSD.

And of course OpenBSD is more secure then any of the above. :)
