Then just type startx : to get it functioning. you can also edit your personnal .xinitrc (in your home directory as a regular user) : copy the /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc as ~/.xinitrc and make the modifications on this personnal file. This is better if you have several users later and they don't want your settings. The other explanation is that if you have to reinstall your system, may be you won't remember the diffs of any config file in the /usr filesystem (/usr filesystem could be mounted read-only, BTW). bye Sylvain N.
