Have a look at the man page - it's very good. The general idea is that you create a named.boot file. This file says that you are the "primary" for certain zones and the "secondary" for others. You can be either or both. You can also be neither, but I can't see a reason that someone might want this. If you're a primary, then you are responsible for mapping BOTH names to addresses and addresses to names - you need TWO primary lines in named.boot. If you're a secondary, the you are buffering information from a primary. For consistency, you really should be secondary for BOTH names to addresses and addresses to names (needing two secondary lines). If you are a primary, your primary lines point to files in which the actual info is held - and maintained. Secondaries point to files that will be created (copies from the primary) and don't need to be there. If you read the manual pages and this makes sense, and you still have problems, post the problems. If you read the manual pages and this doesn't make sense, either say why or buy the O'Reilly book - it'll explain it properly. Of course it's not necessary to say that you shouldn't really re-post without reading the manual page :-) -- Brian <brian@awfulhak.demon.co.uk> Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour....
