Since the board swap FreeBSD 2.1 RELEASE does not recognise the Toshiba CDROM drive. At boot I get the message aha0:target_stat33 at the point where the probe used to find the CDROM drive (at SCSI id 5). All the hard disks are still found OK. I have device cd in my config file and have rebuilt the kernel just in case something got corrupted but it is 100% reproduceable. It did work with the 1542B and same kernel config. I am beginning to tear my hair out. Is this a problem anyone else has seen or must I draw the conclusion that the drive itself has a problem (it still mounts ok under MSDOS and is seen by the SCSI BIOS at boot). Anyone suggest my next course of action trying to isolate this? Unfortunately I only have one machine and no spare SCSI card available. Any SCSI expert able to tell me what stat 33 means to the drive? I will summarise any replies mailed or simply just post here. Thanks, James -- james@socrates.demon.co.uk
