A more supported way would be to get someone to make you a kernel using the new
scsi stuff which also supports the 1542A , the bt742a and the aha174x.

if you wish you can log onto ref.tfs.com as guest
and ftp copy of any kernel you need, or
compile one especially to your own needs.
