It sounds as though the font path is not being set (correctly). This might happen if your font path contains a non-existent directory or if you made a type in one of the directory names. BTW: there is only one fixed font. It is usually an alias for one of the fonts in lib/X11/fonts/misc. Chris Flatters cflatter@nrao.edu
