We did format the disk as : a dos disk first - I dunno if that helped. : David. Mine, AHA-2940, worked fine right out of the box. Never had DOS on any of the disks. I know that Adaptec switched to a newer chip about a year ago. Mine has the aic7870 chip I believe. I had trouble loading Solaris 2.5 on a machine with the newer chip but, it worked fine on an older AHA-2940. Sorry, but I can't remember the chip sets. regards -- John J.
