For example, if you have a second IDE controller, try moving the CD-ROM to that instead. For that matter, triple-check that your hard drive and CD-ROM are properly jumpered, there have been some reports that DOS is more forgiving of mis-jumpered drives. If there's two drives on one controller, one must be jumpered as `master', the other as `slave.' If there's one drive on a controller, it must be jumpered as `lonely.' <grin> - Tim Kientzle In article <31E03865.15FB7483@nwlink.com>, Do Androids Dream of Electronic Sheep <ltaylor@nwlink.com> wrote: >Okay, I'm at a loss here ... > >System: FreeBSD 2.1.release >16 MB of RAM >1 GB HD >IDE CD-ROM drive > > >I have set my kernel to use the ATAPI driver, and I've commented out >the drives but left the controller wcd0 in the kernel config file. > >Whenever I try to access the CD drive, I get "Device not configured"; >what am I doing wrong? >-- >L.
