Hello,

I obtained the XFree86 binary distribution from src.doc.ic.ac.uk which I believe
is a mirror of that on agate.berkeley.edu. When I try to run this on my
Elonex PC450 using the Trident 8900 chipset, I find that it only uses 640x480
mode. I believe that this is due to the way in which the server has been
configured. It seems from running X386 -showconfig that the generic VGA driver
is configured BEFORE the ATI or Trident dirvers and so these are never used.
There is some support for this supposition in the readme file.

I was wondering if the version on src.doc.ic.ac.uk / agate could be rebuilt
by some kind person so that the trident driver would be used.

On a related note, I find that when I run X386 (in 640x480 mode) on exit, my
cursor no longer works. It just sulks in the bottom left corner all the time,
even when I am in vi. This makes editing rather difficult :-( Has anyone seen this
before?

Tom.
