   Hi

Why compile Mosaic, I have been running the BSDI binaries for 2.7b4
on my 2.2 system for a while now??

The original poster is running 2.1. If the BSDI binaries are for built for
bsdi 2.x, they won't work on the poster's system.

He also gets the advantage of configuring/compiling Mosaic the way he wants
it, not how someone else wanted it. Plus s/he gets smaller executables (if
s/he uses shlibs).
