hi !

i got some replies from people asking if i had intended to start another
flame war by asking this "linux vs freebsd" question.

i did not even start to read this newsgroup until i posted my question
i had no idea this was an oft discussed topic. certainly when i posted
the same question to the comp.os.linux.misc group, i did not receive
such replies, nor was there any flame war.

if this is usch an FAQ, then perhaps an FAQ should be compiled about
the 2 systems, giving different opinions, and next time a newcomer
like me asks such a question, s/he can be redirected to the FAQ.

i apologise in advance if my question will cause any problems for
any readers of the group. definitely not what was intended.
and i thank those hwo have replied to my query. i certainly have
received many helpful comments, and thankfully most people who
are replying have useful things to say and many have even tried
both systems and have pointed out the strong and weak points
of both.

maybe, just maybe, i'll compile a summary of the responses and post it ...
perhaps the beginning of an FAQ ?
