I am having problems with the following, if you can help. I am using Free BSD 2.0.5, and a PC-COM 8 port card with 16550's, running a modem pool. My problem is that when more than one user is connected, ftp (etc) speeds drop considerably. I am not quite up to the level of reconfiguring my kernel, but I have been able to alter my standard kernel config shown below, to flags 0x0905, and setting the interrupt irq 5 on sio9, and not sio2. This seems to boot as it should (?) but performance is no better. My questions are these. Is the "vector siointr" on each line causing me problems, and if so or otherwise, can I configure the kernel (through booting and kernel -c) any better? Have I simply got a configuration that is not going to produce 2-3K ftp speeds simultaneously over several modems? device sio2 at isa? port 0x180 tty flags 0x0201 irq 5 vector siointr device sio3 at isa? port 0x188 tty flags 0x0201 vector siointr device sio4 at isa? port 0x190 tty flags 0x0201 vector siointr device sio5 at isa? port 0x198 tty flags 0x0201 vector siointr device sio6 at isa? port 0x1a0 tty flags 0x0201 vector siointr device sio7 at isa? port 0x1a8 tty flags 0x0201 vector siointr device sio8 at isa? port 0x1b0 tty flags 0x0201 vector siointr device sio9 at isa? port 0x1b8 tty flags 0x0201 vector siointr Regards Matthew Colliver Consultant MTC Consulting Email: matt@mtc.net.au WEB: http://www.mtc.net.au/ ph 0414 233244 fax 61 8 3770818 "It's all relative Really."
