I'm trying to install FreeBSD 2.1.0-RELEASE on my PC. The problem that I am experiencing is: When booting with Boot Manager, (Booteasy) when I press the corresponding key for FreeBSD, it only returns to the Boot Manager and the F? prompt again. After scouring the FAQs and hardware files, I thought the problem was with the disk geometry because my first HD is an 850MB Conner drive. My second HD is only a 234 MB Maxtor. That's not the problem I believe. The disk geometry is set the same in FreeBSD as BIOS. Since I've installed Linux before, I knew that the boot info has to be within the (508MB) limit imposed by DOS. Therefore, I've installed the FreeBSD OS on the SECOND partition of my second HD. Let's see, the root filesystem resides after 134MB of a MS-DOS filesystem. What I'm trying to do is, install the /bin files to the / partition without a separate partition for /usr. After I get it booting, I plan to create another partition on my first HD in the >508 region and mount it as /usr. If anyone can help me get this sucker to boot. I'd appreciate it very much.
