I don't know how it happened, but suddenly I've lost all of my FreeBSD 
partitions except for root.  usr, swap, proc, all vanished!  Even the /dev 
entries for the partitions are gone, and no way to re-MAKEDEV them, as the 
script can't find the necessary support utilities (chown, chgrp, etc).

Any ideas, other than starting over from scratch <groan>?
