Previously I'd run a 40 meg unit, install croaked but I cobbled it up and running enough to compile kernels. Put in the 2 drive patches, but kept having strange hassles where I could do a disklabel -r and read the second drive's label 2-3 times or so, then the system would hang with the drive activity light stuck on. Sigh. I kept thinking "Must have a real off brand IDE controller," but that didn't make sense, since *all* IDE controllers seem to be off brands :). But I didn't notice anyone else mentioning this on the net. Finally decided to try Yet Another Time, this time trying my third cable. Aw heck (paraphrased :), that was it... So, if you're having bizzare problems, keep trying over and over and over. Like Kate says, "Don't give up..." --Steven
