Uhhhhh, the FreeBSD VM system came *after* the NetBSD/4.4BSD one.

The NetBSD folk haven't replaced the VM system yet, but are planning
on a fairly large overhaul I believe. There is at least one person
working on porting the FreeBSD VM system into NetBSD, but it's a large
job and I don't know how that effort is coming along.

Oh, and the FreeBSD guys don't seem to be interested in supporting "n"
platforms. The NetBSD group supports "n" platforms, and the FreeBSD
camp supports 1 platform well. It works out.
