I'm a recent Linux transfer. I was using Linux for inn, but I like the
FreeBSD system better. Except for fdisk. Linux has this cool utility
called cfdisk. Never had any problems adding new scsi drives using that
utility along with mkfs or mke2fs. I tried adding scsi drives last night
to my new f'bsd machine, and spent 6 or 7 hours banging my head against
the wall. After several reformats on a stable scsi based system, I finally
got f'bsd to recognize and install onto the scsi system. Unfortunately,
the only way I could do it was through a complete reinstall of the whole
system. Not real convenient.

I've got two questions:

Is there a more userfriendly interface to fdisk and disklabel? Damn, you'd
have to study the man pages, and a boat load of books to understand
everything involved with these two programs. An unnecassary level of
detail as demonstrated by the relatively clean and easy Linux method.

This questions a little more pressing. When I brought up the installer,
and started labeling partitions, it complained about the geometry being
bad on my 2gig and my 4gig drive. First I tried letting it change it what
it wanted to, and that fried the whole shabang. Had to reformat everything
and start over. Then I tried ignoring the message. Installation went okay,
but whenever the system comes up, right after it says "BIOS loaded
successfully!" I get a warning mesage about a "device large than 1 gig
using such and such cylinder/head scheme when the card is using such and
such. Data corruption may occur..." It scares the shit out of me, but
adter staring blankly at fdisk and disklabel for hours, I still have no
cure.

Pointers, help, advice (besides RTFM -- maybe read THIS PARTICULAR manual
or page) would be greatly appreciated.
