Check that last -- my copy of mtools works fine for floppies, but won't 
deal with a hard drive. However, the comment about partitions shrunk with 
fips is valid. The only way out of that mess is to re-fdisk the shrunken 
partition (delete it and then re-create it) to give it smaller clusters. 
A pain and a half, but much easier to use afterwards. It's actually not 
too bad if you have another place to store the DOS files while the 
re-fdisk operation and format is going on.
