this is an interesting thread. i have a slightly different
problem with my phillips 6x atapi ide cdrom. i was able to
install freebsd 2.1 with the cdrom because it was recognized
by the probe from the boot floppy. but after the install is
complete and i am now booting from the hard drive the
probe fails to detect the cdrom. i am new to bsd but i
have re done this 4 times and every time the boot floppy
detects the cdrom at boot and the hard drive boot does not
detect the cdrom and hence i cannot mount the cdrom.
any help would be appreciated. thanks
