I have a NetBSD 1.0 system which I would like ot upgrade
to FreeBSD 2.1.5. I read on a previous post that the

I can just copy over the binaries and I'm off to
FreeBSD-Land? Is it possible to retain the data already
   on the disk??

Mmmmmmmaybe. :-)

I don't know, I've certainly never tried this before and I don't know
of anyone who has.

How would I do this update? (The Handbook was not very informative)
(I would be doing the install using FTP)

I would simply install afresh, if I were you, but if you'd like to try
it then please get back to us and let us know if it worked. You're
out in uncharted territory now and I'm afraid that no handbook will
help you. This is certainly not one of the scenarios I've coded
for.
