One advantage BSD currently has over Linux is porting applications
(by that I mean the ports collection) and ease of upgrades.  I think
both of these are handled very well with FreeBSD.  I don't remember
seeing this in previous posts on this subject.  This is just my
humble opinion though; not all may care (or even agree).
