Out of curiosity, I did a little research at DejaNews. This thread started in gnu.misc.discuss, <4p4vfv$rev@top.mitre.org> when someone asked what benchmark the numbers came from. This evolved into a discussion of relative numbers with a few other OS's. The thread sptlit into a discussion of a routing problem with netbsd <4pa83i$2km@solutions.solon.com> and the Solaris bug <4pf7f9$bsf@white.twinsun.com>,and that's when the netbsd group and the linux networking group was added to the newsgroup line. Up until this point, the thread was flame free. At this point, Steinar Haug added the freebsd group to the newsgroups line <4qc60n$d8m@verdi.nethelp.no>, and John Dyson followed up, commenting that the benchmark was meaningless <31D2F0C6.167EB0E7@inuxs.att.com> and the rest is history. -- Artificial Intelligence stands no chance against Natural Stupidity.
