No, not from harddisk. Why should I? I boot single-user mode from an
emergency boot/root floppy, and then restore my shared libs etc. from
tape backups.

Booting from boot/root floppy might take a few seconds longer than
from harddisk single-user, but that does not matter much. It is only
intended for *emergencies*, which are not supposed to happen every
day.

I estimate it takes 30s extra, 3 times a year.
